Time and place
Skopje and Bitola
from: October 2008
till: October 2008
Grant
CHF 3,000.00
A silicone casts of the artist's arm is attached to one part of the sculptures that looks like dissected old-clock mechanism, made of wooden gears, belts and springs, and ready-made objects. Once the handle of the sculpture is moved, these arms will perform several different violent movements, such as banging on the table, strangling motion, stabbing with knife, etc. During the exhibition, these mechanical sculptures will make sounds (scratching, squeaking noises), mixed with a calming piano music (live or pre-recorded). The exhibition should provoke a naïve, childish curiosity from the side of the audience to touch and play with the sculptures but at the same time the movements should stimulate the hidden emotions/aggressions, which, due to the social obstacles are accumulated in our minds and souls, causing the symptom of the "passive aggressive" behaviour.

Dalibor Trencevski, Kumanovo

Museum of the City of Skopje
from: October 2008
till: October 2008
Grant
CHF 1,600.00
The project of the young artist Dalibor Trencevski, “Monolith 2”, represents the moment of losing a single human being and its individuality, and his/her melting in the big crowd of people. The moment when each and every one of us realises that we are nothing but a part of one huge system. Visually, the project is inspired by the ancient Greek temple represented with a long corridor that ends with a monumental sculpture of God or Goddess. The sculpture is a faceless and sexless body without identity that has been lifted up and worshiped by its followers. The followers will be represented symbolically as 100 naked people that during the performance should recruit 100 more new admirers of the Goddess. Therefore, the audience will not only be in the role of observer, but will also be actively incorporated in the realisation of this idea. The whole flow of the performance will be dictated by the music of the band “White Noise in White Room” and by the video screenings showing the eyes of the sculptor.

This documentary is related to Dimitrievska's personal questions raised by her position of being a woman and an artist. It is a reflection of her personal experience of freedom, confronted with the life stories of women in prison and blind women, trying to find out what it means to lose freedom (when your freedom is taken away either by the acts you did or by the fate itself). Her personal challenge is to establish trust and natural communication with these women, so they can openly talk about their most intimate thoughts and feelings. Dimitrievska would also like to deal with the institutions where they are placed, the prison and the home for blind people.
